Rattlesnake Removal

Experienced & Safe Rattlesnake Removal

Prairie Rattlesnakes are one of the many species of wildlife we share our community with. One of only 2 venomous snakes native to Wyoming (the other, the Midget Faded Rattlesnake is only found in the Flaming Gorge area), they are a common sight from late spring to early to mid fall. As the weather warms up, the snakes come out of hibernation looking for food and water.

Oftentimes these snakes wander into town and find themselves in an ideal summer home with our cool, lush lawns, endless water supply, and plenty of hiding spaces and basking areas. You may see them basking on warm, flat surfaces on cool days or in the early morning or late evenings, and in shady hiding spots during the heat of the day. Rattlesnakes can swim, and we have removed them from backyard ponds! They are a very common sight at the golf courses & Seminoe Reservoir, too!

While they can be scary to see, these snakes are not typically aggressive and are more interested in getting away. They will strike if they are cornered, feel threatened, or are startled.  Prairie rattlesnakes are able to control how much venom they release when they strike, but every snake bite is an emergency! Their venom causes serious, and sometimes fatal tissue and organ damage.

So, what do you do if you find yourself face to face with Wyoming's very own rattlesnake? Call us!

There are some VERY important things to remember when you see a snake:

  • Stay a SAFE distance away from the snake, but KEEP IT WITHIN SIGHT. Put all pets and children inside!
  • Text or call us! 307.321.5090, if we don't answer, call the Rawlins Police Department 307.328.4530, and they will get a hold of us via alternate numbers!
  • Stay where you are! These snakes have no interest in sticking around after the threat (you!!) is gone and will disappear as soon as you are out of sight!
  • Don't mess with the snake (poking it, trying to get close up pictures etc.) it's scared too and any additional interaction could cause it to strike!
  • Sign your dog up for our next Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinic! We will announce dates via email through our pet portal system! Visit our TRAINING page for more information.

Rattlesnake Removal is FREE and the snake we pick up just might get to help teach dogs snake safety as well in one of our Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinics!

All snakes caught are released back into the wild far outside of town where everyone will be safe. We do not release them in areas frequented by people and their pets!

Remember, the snakes are just out looking for food & water, just like the handsome buck or pretty doe mule deer and her cute, spotted fawns! They have no intention of harming you or your pets.

We have been Rawlins' trustworthy, reliable, & safe snake removal for over 10 years. Our snake handling experience and knowledge, as well as familiarity with the community means quick and safe snake removal for you!
