Common Questions

What dogs can stay with you?

Do I need to make reservations?

Do I need to make reservations?

Dogs that are friendly with us & other dogs can stay! We are a group play facility, so all dogs must be sociable to keep everyone safe and happy. For everyone's safety, dogs that show aggression or are not social cannot stay. Dogs must be able to be safely and calmly kenneled in either our large runs or large built in crates. Dogs that do not handle being crated/confined will not be able to stay with One of a Kind Canine. We are no longer taking new bully breed type dogs. Females in heat cannot stay at One of a Kind Canine.

Yes, reservations can be made through your pet portal! Click the Book Now button to login or create a profile! All new dogs must pass a Meet & Greet prior to booking any boarding or daycare reservations to ensure we will be a good fit for them.  You can schedule your Meet & Greet through your profile!

How do I get my dog in for training?

Bringing strangers into the dogs' space causes excessive excitement & stress for the dogs. Our priority is the safety and security of the animals in our care.  We have a video tour of the entire facility on our facebook page.

Why is the front door locked during your hours?

Safety! I do not have a receptionist and am almost always outside with the dogs. Supervising the dogs, cleaning kennels, doing laundry, cleaning the yards, working with training dogs, & feeding and watering all the animals in our care are all things that require us to be away from the desk & front door. We will not hear you knocking! Please text when you are on your way/here. Text messages are easier for us to quickly read & respond to. DO NOT CLIMB OR YELL OVER FENCE AS THIS AGITATES THE DOGS AND CAUSES UNECESSARY STRESS &  FIGHTS!

Do you accept every dog that does a Meet & Greet?

Why are some dates grayed out on the calendar when I try to request?

Why are some dates grayed out on the calendar when I try to request?

No. Not all dogs do well in a boarding environment and would do better with a home pet sitter. Dogs must be friendly with us and other dogs. Dogs that show excessive anxiety, shyness, or any aggressive behavior will not pass the Meet & Greet. Meet & Greets help ensure all of our guests will be happy and safe during their stay.

Why are some dates grayed out on the calendar when I try to request?

Those are dates we are closed. If it's just one day, that usually means we won't be have any office hours that day, but still have pets staying with us. A block of dates generally means we will not be able to have any pets during that time. Check our Contact + Hours page for a list of dates we are closed.

Do you accept all breeds?

Can I bring my dog to daycare for them to learn how to be around other dogs?

We accept dogs that have passed the Meet & Greet. We are no longer accepting new chow chow, Rottweiler, or  bully breed type dogs (including, but not limited to: American bulldogs, bull terriers,  XL bullies, Am. Staffs, pit bull, dogo argentino, or any mix including those breeds.) Any dog that is not friendly & comfortable in group play will not be out with other dogs. For staff & guest safety, we cannot board more than ONE dog that cannot be in group play at any given time.

Can I bring my dog to daycare for them to learn how to be around other dogs?

Definitely not. Daycare is ONLY for dogs who have appropriate behavior in group settings and who enjoy the company of other dogs. Any dogs that become uncomfortable, or show any aggression are excused from daycare. Our daycare groups are limited, please visit the Daycare page for more information.

What training tools do you use?

Can I bring my dog to daycare for them to learn how to be around other dogs?

What training tools do you use?

I use what works best for each individual dog & their owner. We use slip leads, slip collars, prong collars, e-collars, traffic leads, long lines, and of course treats, play, and praise! Our goal is to help you achieve your goals with your dogs, and in order to do that, you need to be able to communicate clearly & fairly with your dog. We teach you AND your dog how the tools work and how to use them correctly.
